Full Detailed Tour Itinerary

Day 0: Arrival Kilimanjaro – Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro airport, your safari guide will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha. Settle into your accommodation, relax and get used to the African atmosphere. Ready to start your safari proper in the morning.
This hotel stay includes bed & breakfast, since you will probably arrive late in the evening. The other hotels during your safari are with full board.

Day 1: Tarangire National Park

We will pick you up from your hotel at 8:00am and take you to a very special national park. Tarangire is famous for its diverse landscape with nine different vegetation zone. It is also known for its abundance of Ancient Baobab trees (the largest trees on the continent) that fill the landscape and dwarf the animals next to them. The river in the park is full of wildlife ranging from a large variety of birds to lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes and, of course, elephants. In fact, the park has the largest concentration of elephants in the whole country and offers the unique opportunity to observe interactions between elephant families. The lunch area is fascinating and boasts an observatory with amazing views of the river and wildlife (there is a good chance of seeing a hunt while having your picnic). In the afternoon we will go on another game drive before making your way to the camp.

Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park

Go on a beautiful, short journey across the Great Rift Valley until you arrive at Lake Manyara National Park for a full day game drive. Although small in dimension (205 sq. miles), the park has breathtaking scenery and is famous for its lush acacia forest, giant figs, mahogany trees, and its growing population of baboons and blue monkeys. Permanent residents of this park also include giraffes, elephants, impalas, and a huge number of buffaloes and hippos. It is hard to describe the landscape of Lake Manyara in words. Game drives along the lake provide stunning photo opportunities of giraffes and buffaloes in the foreground and the lake (and its flamingos) in the background. Extra tours are possible on this day, including a bike tour or a boat excursion. You will transfer to the camp for dinner in the afternoon.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast you start on your way to Serengeti National Park, one of the most famous wildlife sanctuaries in the world. The vast Serengeti plains cover an area of about 15,000 square kilometers and during the months of the Great Migration is the habitat of huge numbers of wildebeest, zebra and Thomson’s gazelle. The Serengeti kopjes, massive boulder islands of granite standing in a sea of grass, provide shelter to a great variety of plants and animals, from the elusive leopard to the tiny dik dik. After stopping for your picnic lunch at such a kopje you will continue further into the park and go on a game drive. Driving time without game viewing 4-5 hours.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park

Enjoy an early morning game drive to see both nocturnal predators returning from hunting and animals waking up in the early morning light. After enjoying a bush breakfast at the hippo pools, you proceed with your game drives around Serengeti named after an old Masai word Siringet, meaning ‘Endless Plains’. Depending on the time of year and the migration of the herds you can expect to see wildebeest, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes and many birds and other species. Return to your luxury camp for late lunch or stay in the bush until late afternoon. In the evening you will be surprised with a private candle light dinner under African stars.

Day 5: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast you travel through the Serengeti again and on towards Ngorongoro. You reach Ngorongoro Conservation Area home of the world famous Ngorongoro Crater. It is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s densest animal populations and one of the few places where the rare black rhino can be observed in its natural habitat. Driving time without game viewing approx. 3 hours.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater – Lake Eyasi

You will start the day very early and descend into the crater floor for an incredible morning of wildlife in one of the most stunning places on Earth.

After the game drive, there will be time for a picnic lunch near the beautiful hippo Lake.

After lunch, you will have time for a short game drive and then ascend the crater and exit Ngorongoro Conservation Area towards Lake Eyasi, where you will have a unique and fascinating cultural experience tomorrow.

Day 7: Lake Eyasi

Today will be a very special and different day. You will wake up very early, just before sunrise, and follow your guide until he finds the Hadzabe tribe, one of the last truly nomadic tribes in Africa.

After some explanations about the tribe, you will join them in their daily morning activities. This experience is off the beaten track and does not feel touristic by any means. The photographic opportunities are out of this world.

This tour will definitely be a highlight of your safari. The experiences you do with the tribe can either be joining the men in their daily hunting or the women in their fruit gathering session. In either of them, you will learn about many aspects of the Hadzabe way of living.

After finishing the activities with the tribe, you will visit the beautiful Lake Eyasi, a season shallow salt lake on the floor of the Great Rift Valley and then return to Arusha.

Day 8: Fly to Zanzibar

Arrive anytime in Zanzibar you will meet us at the airport and pick up you with a private transfer to Nungwi at Pongwe Beach Hotel.

Day 9- 10: Zanzibar

The whole day will be spent relaxing at the beautiful Zanzibar beach. All meals and overnight will be at your hotel (the lodge organizes activities like diving, snorkeling, village tour and others that you can book directly from the lodge and pay them).

Day 11: Departure. Farewell Tanzania

You can spend the last hours of your trip relaxing. Afterward, you will have a transfer to Zanzibar airport for your flight home.
