• The park is well-known for its population of elephants, giraffes buffaloes, zebras, elands, greater Kudu, wildebeest, roan and sable antelope. Predators include tree-climbing lions (which are in large number), leopards, wild hunting dogs and black-backed jackal.
• More than 300 species of birds have been recorded here including Eurasian migrants such as red billed ox-pecker, marabou stork and lilac breasted roller.

Day to day itinerary

2 Days Mikumi National Park Trip Details

Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park

Meet and greet at your hotel in Dar es Salaam at 7:00 am or at the ferry station if you have come across from Zanzibar.The drive will take about 4 to 5 hours with a lunch stop at the Black & White restaurant near Morogoro Town.
On arrival you will proceed to the park and start with game drives. Here you will get an opportunity to see the most fascinating animals in the park like huge elephants, king of the jungle Lion, Wild dog, Zebras, Giraffes, Impalas, Hyena, Buffalo, Wildebeest, one of the biggest antelope in the world Eland, Hartebeest, Crocodile, Hippos, Lizard, Lions and other residents. The park also has over 300 species of birds will be observed.
Late afternoon you will do more game drives and watch the animals drink water at hippo pool. Some of the prominent features to seek after in the game drive include the artificial hippo pools filled huge school of hippos swimming. Dinner and overnight will be at the nearby camp/lodge.

Day 2: Mikumi to Dar es Salaam

You will have an early morning game drive and enjoy the viewing of animals as they start their day of grazing or hunting. This is a very good time of seeing the lions of Mikumi and on a lucky day you will also see the leopard.
Later on you will start the leisurely drive back to the city.
