• With 3,230 square kilometers coverage Mikumi National Park is well-known park in Tanzania.
• The park is well-known for its population of elephants, giraffes buffaloes, zebras, elands, greater Kudu, wildebeest, roan and sable antelope. Predators include tree-climbing lions (which are in large number), leopards, wild hunting dogs and black-backed jackal.
• More than 300 species of birds have been recorded here including Eurasian migrants such as red billed ox-pecker, marabou stork and lilac breasted roller.

Mikumi National Park Day Trip Details

If you are too short on time in Tanzania for a full day safari, you can still enjoy the chance to see African wildlife on this full day tour from Dar es Salaam or Morogoro to Mikumi National Park, located at 3230 square km, between the Uluguru Mountains to the north and the Lumango Mountains to the south-east. Mikumi National Park is home to giraffe, elephants, lions, zebras, leopards, impala, eland, kudu, black antelope, baboons, wildebeests and buffaloes.

Pick up from Dar es salaam at 5 am and to drive to Mikumi National Park which takes approximately 5 hrs to 6 hrs depending on the traffic on the highway. You will have your breakfast at Morogoro Town then with your picnic lunch box drive into Mikumi National Park. You will arrive around 0900am proceed with game drives until late in the afternoon having a lunch at the picnic site.

Mikumi National Park provides excellent opportunity to view diverse number of wildlife and many species of birds in a short period of time without too much of driving around inside the park. You will have the opportunity to view the unique Mikumi Giraffes that naturalists say seem to be a cross breed between reticulated and Maasai Giraffe, Antelope, Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Hippo, Hyena, Wildebeest, Wild Dog, Zebra, Leopard can be easily sported in this park. Then drive back to Dar es Salaam see beautifully landscapes and scenarios in the way back, arrival around 0900pm.
